Hatchet 3 is the Hatchet's horror film of 2013. It is a follow-up to the murderous adventures of Victor Crowley across Louisiana's Honey Island Swamp. The film stars Kane Hodder as Victor Crowley, Brian Quinn as Deputy Winslow, as well as Rileah Vanderbilt in the role of Misty.



The film's special effects are its biggest strength. Unlike many modern horror movies that rely heavily on CG effects, Hatchet 3 features mostly realistic makeup effects and sets, resulting in some truly terrifying moments throughout the film.

Unfortunately, because the budget is extremely limited (reportedly one million dollars), most locations that are featured in the movie are re-used locations from (blog) previous films in series. For instance, the exact boathouse location was used twice in the film. Many of these locations seem like they've been reused from other films from this series. Hatchet or Hatchet2 may feel it's a familiar film.

Overall, I enjoyed Hatchet 3 even though it felt very similar to prior installments in the series. It also provided lots of bloody thrills as well as entertaining performances from its cast members.
